Gameday: Grinders vs All Blacks

It’s a Friday night showdown between the All Blacks and The Grinders, 9pm on Blue A. In 6 games over our recent history, the Grinders have a 5-1 record but don’t let that fool ya. All games have been tough, fast and close, except for our final meeting back in the 05/06 season when the All Blacks scored 5 goals to beat us. They only had 15 shots on net, perhaps Crazy Wayne didn’t have one of his better performances that night, but their stars Keenlyside (77) and Zaragoza (11) stepped up and got most of their points.

This should be a good game fellas.

What division do you guyses play in? Where are you located? In case I decide to move, I want to find a team where the chicks are hot and the beer flows like water. Good Luck.

We’re on the west coast – Vancouver, BC. Division? Thats a secret.

My team is on the east coast – Raleigh, NC. B Division. Which in Redneck hockey… means Beginners league.

B is Beginner? Well then, this oughta blow you away. At the rinks we play at there are 144 teams spread out over 18 divisions. The top 2 divisions are guys that either played semi-pro or pro over in Europe, college players, Junior players and the like. The next 4 Divisions are guys that just as good.
Us? We are down in Div 16. in this division which is Adult hockey, must be over the age of 19. Our average age on our team is about 35 I would guess. I offer that up as an excuse as we play against many teams packed with 20 year-olds, but truth of the matter is we’re just not that good.
And this is onl the week-day league that plays Mon-Fri. There is also a week-end league, a woman’s league, and an old-timers league
Soon, we’ll be in the 35+ league when some of the young pups (30, 32) on our team come of age.
SO any time you want bring your B Division talent (as compared to our “P” Division talent P, thats the 16th letter isn’t it?) over to the West coast of Canada, give us a holler and we’ll get you on as a spare.

WOW! We have 3 divisions. A/B Which are the guys who have come down from Canada to woop up on us rednecks. B/C Which are guys like me who are from Chicago latitude and above who are 30+ and drink too much beer to play good anymore. And last but not least C which are beginners, and I mean real beginners. So much so that they look like orange cones when I watch them play. We also have an old man league. That is all. But it is growing! Hockeys rules eh?!
