Outstanding work webmaster! If that don’t pump you up….

Stick to 85 like glue. whenever he touches the puck. Even if he doesn’t have it, closest guy get next to him to keep him out of the play…

We can do iiiiitt !!!

I’m here too! I come back every once in a while to see if her shirt has risen up any more.
Last game the puck bounced their way. Next game they’ll be cocky and over-confident, we’ll out-hustle the bastards, get some puck-luck and get a win.

I think we should shoot as much as possible on the goalie, shoot from everywhere and wingers or centerman or all, crash the net. He let out a lot of nice rebounds. Get to the blue line and fire it in. They have a couple of big d, they won’t be able to pivot and get going fast enough. I know we always say lots of shots, but we never do it. We can’t stick check 85, I think we need to stand in front of him, easier said than done, since he skates like the wind (bastard, I could too if I was his size). Remember too have a light dinner, too much will make you skate slow like me. Any chance you could put me at center on saturday Gord, I was kinda lost on the wing and played too low down in our defensive end, If you have someone who doesn’t mind switching that is.

Well, remember Troy, the center is also the third defenceman. Your check is the other center….uhh …#85…..

I think it is best to have our speed guys and best playmakers at center for this one. Andy, Triggsy, Geiber all have the speed to get back and help the D, and most importantly for #85, can skate with him…

As a winger, you still have to get back, even more so when you are the highest guy and the center is caught deep on a turnover.
In our end. Just remember to stay close to the dman on your side.

I know you all were hoping to rely on my manly offensive output (take that however you like), but I found out that I won’t be playing hockey until at least late May.

So Gord, if you’re going to do the summer hockey thing, I’ll definitely go on the spare list.

You guys were in the last game going into the 3rd period. When you get them hemmed into their zone, they start to fall apart.

D, watch their transition - it’s ridiculously fast. One guy hang back a bit.

Forwards, gain the zone and get shots. If you’re not carrying the puck, GO TO THE NET! This goalie lets out big rebounds, particularly on low shots. He also goes down really quickly, so a rebound goal is one of our best chances. He’s good with the glove, so stay clear of it.

Everyone be aware when 85 and 17 are on the ice - 17 is looking to set up 85 all the time. Watch for the guy posted about 4 feet from the post to Peter’s right, he’s looking for a one-timer. They tried that play 3 times, and scored on one of them.

Anyway, wish I could be out there.

We are going to be a different team saturday. Shut down their big guns, skate our bags off…and they’ll be overconfident from their win! We’re gonna kick some Cougar ass!

You guys need a stronger playoff like performance from your goalie. Make sure to get out of the way so I can see the shot and watch for that guy at the side of the net like Jason said looking for that one timer.
Let’s get this win Saturday!

If you bring it, I’ll bring the Smokies and we can do a proper Tailgate!

That didn’t sound quite right… Now you guys have me thinkin… While I don’t disagree with having skaters in the middle to get back to help D and guard 85 I think that our biggest problem is the lack of offence we generate. I think the whole team can play defence by getting in 85’s lane etc without taking interference penalties, just be there everytime he turns towards the middle. I think to generate offence we need to have the ’skaters’ play on the same line (or at least 2). ie for myself (as a left shot), its easiest to passy to my right and easiest for him if he’s a right shot. That way we get more puck control as we go into the offensive end. I also think there is some merritt in playing players of similiar styles together, ie Andy and I like to grind and give and go, Gord and Gieber have a little more finess with the puck. Tanchack and Trainor are straight up the ice players… You may have to move certain players around positionally to make it work. Make any sense?

Sounds good Triggsy. Glad to hear your thoughts as you have more experience than probably anybody on the team! I agree we all need to make life hell on 85, whenever he gets near one of our players…even if that means just getting in his way/lane.

As for lines, we have tried it in the past and it hasn’t really worked all that well, there were so many complaints about ice time because if a guy on the line ahead stayed out too long, the guy on the next line at that position has to take a short shift. With everyone rotating as we do it now, it is never a problem, unless a guy stays out too long, then the other two guys on his side can let him know.

I think this system has worked well for keeping everyones ice time equal. What this means though, is it doesn’t matter who’s line you start the game on, you will most likely be with different players by the middle of the first period.

If we want to put together a power line, or tandems as Jeff suggests, I have no problem with that. What does the rest of the team think? Do we want to have a power play line for this last game and or put together a power line for the last minute if it is a close game, (either up or down by one )?

People would just have to agree to change together and be disciplined about it. Otherwise just start the periods with the lines and see what happens….

What about actually having someone standing in front of the net. I know we do it sometimes, but I don’t think we screen the goalie enough, and having someone there for a garbage goal after a shot would help.

41 posts! Incredible! I guess it’s 42 now. It took me like most of my work day to read all this and I’ve come to the conclusion that a). The Wiggles’ music is quite catchy and b). Shaun is gay and I don’t mean happy.

Sorry to see your season end fellas. We’ve got playoff game #2 tonight with the Burn, so we’ll see how it goes. See you at summer hockey!
