The Cuppa Joe Grinders

After a steady diet of beer and lethargy the Grinders surprise themselves and come out with hardwork, hustle and hardly any PIMS.

2 minutes in penalties for the whole entire complete total full game! Its kinda nice to play a whole game with 5 players on the ice. I could get used to that. It gave a chance for our true heroes to shine. All Hail the Turtles!

Mark Leng started it off with the Grinders first goal of the game at 8:53 of the first period. It looked like that may be enough to win it as the score remained that way throughout the second period and well into the third.

The Stars have some skilled players but don’t move the puck well so foreward pressure and some strong work at the blue line keeping the puck in works well to quash any offensive chances from the North Star team. Although the Grinders worked hard and moved the puck well, the shots on goal were similar 26-22 in favour of the Grinders, so Kuznak was doing a stellar job keeping us in the game. The Burnaby North Stars finally got a goal at 11:25 of the 3rd.

So once again the Grinders relied on the Turtles to save the day.

Dave Tanchak, after breaking down the left wing, deked the goalie and slid the puck through his legs for a beautiful game winning goal. The assists on the play came from another turtle, Jason Clarke and from our goalie Mr. Jason Kuznak.

The turtles have been on fire as of late. With Guy and Troy also getting points in recent games. Troy assisted Guy last game and Guy had two more points the previous game. The only one not scoring seems to be Trainor, who hit his peak performance at the season start and has begun to falter, allowing the rest of the pack – herd? – gaggle? – group? -pride? – murder? – whatever a collection or turtles may be known as – to threaten his lead.
